Sarah is an award-winning author, podcast host, campaigner, keynote speaker, panel host and founder.

She was recently described as a 'global plant-based movement leader' but isn’t sure if she’s audacious enough to adopt that title. Via her work at Made In Hackney she co-led a team that upskilled and inspired over half a million people to cook, grow and eat more plants winning awards for diversity and inclusion, food education and leadership.

Sarah's work focuses on the intersection of plant-based eating, food/social justice and health inequalities. During the pandemic she pivoted the charity to become an emergency food support service that provided 200K free plant-based meals to households in need of support. Whilst leading MIH she started a national upskilling and training programme called Plant Prospects and a worldwide plant-based kitchen training and mentoring scheme Global Plant Kitchens.

She no longer works at the helm of Made In Hackney but is a proud ambassador for the charity and is the author of their debut book - We Cook Plants – which features over 100 global recipes alongside important discussions around food justice, sustainability and veganism.

She now spends her days homeschooling her PDA autistic son, teaching SEN students’ food growing, and working part-time as a Campaign Manager at Plant-Based Health Professionals UK managing the Plants First Initiative which supports healthcare settings to adopt a plant-rich food culture. Yes, she likes to keep herself busy and her recent ADHD diagnosis may go some way in explaining that.

A former music and social justice journalist, she loves bringing people together and telling stories via her writing, speaking and more recently documentary producing to bring about positive change in the world. Her work has been featured in the New York Times, The Guardian, The Observer, BBC, Sky News, Vegan Food & Living, Esquire, Vogue Magazine and other media outlets.
